Bad news for those of you who were planning on participating in the Vermont 10 Miler or Nordic Invitational road race/event this weekend – they have been cancelled.
Due to heavy rains overnight, there are impacts to many roadways including blocked culverts that have led to major erosion and more problems continue to be discovered, accroding to Stowe Public Safety Agencies.
“After consulting with safety officers, the town of Stowe has opted to cancel all public events for this coming weekend due to extensive storm damage to roads, power lines and infrastructure. This includes the cancellation of Sunday’s Vermont 10 Miler,” Gray Matter Marketing, producer of the Vermont 10 Miler announced in an email to participants this afternoon.
“We share in your disappointment that the Vermont 10 Miler cannot go on as planned. There is no make-up date for this year’s race,” Gray Matter Marketing said. “Runners who are in the area or wish to still spend the weekend in Stowe are welcome to come to von Trapp Brewery from 12-3 PM tomorrow (Saturday) or Mayo Farm Event Fields from 8-10 AM on Sunday to pick up their race shirts and New England 10 Miler Series swag”.
Per Vermont 10 Miler’s registration and severe weather cancellation policies , there will be no refunds for the event. “Since we have incurred the event costs and therefore cannot offer the refund, we will follow up within the next two weeks with information on future race discount”, Gray Matter Marketing said.
“We apologize for the cancellation, and we look forward to having you at a future Gray Matter Marketing Event. Please feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns,” Gray Matter Marketing concluded.
